How do I navigate this site? The best way to do so is by following the links in the Site Navigation on the left hand side of this page. Each link will open in a new window, which will allow you to look at multiple pages at the same time, and not have to keep pushing the "back" button to get back to the homepage. If you're new, you may want to check out the "Ingredient Glossary" which will give insight into how to read labels. Alternatively, you may either look at the "Quick Reference Tables" for summary information on what each of the foods received for a score (there are links to each food's specific review on those pages). Or, you can just dive in and click on the review pages and sift through all of the data. It's up to you!
Why is this site coded so primitively? It looks like websites I saw on the internet 10 years ago. Well, I have no budget for paying a web designer to make it nice and flashy. If you know of somebody who would do it for cheap, let me know. Until then, all I can do is code it to the best of my own personal abilities...which is what you see here. Regardless, I still think it's easy to find information and that's the most important thing.
What is the significance of the "star" ratings and price ratings given to each food? The star ratings are on a 1 to 5 star scale, and largely will match up with the "total score" the food got (more on that below). It's basically a look at the total ingredient list in the food and its nutritional analysis, and then given a grade. You can think of it as 5 stars being an A, 4 stars a B, and so on to 1 star being an F. As for the price rating, this is based on what I've observed on the internet and in my local stores. Prices can vary of course, but the foods I've listed as most expensive (4 dollar signs) probably aren't going to be all that cheap anywhere else. Likewise for the foods that are cheapest (1 dollar sign). They're basically quick reference ratings for people to look at.
Wouldn't it make more sense to just teach people how to read labels? Yes. That's why I put up an ingredient glossary page, which you can reach by clicking here. While reading reviews and finding out which foods use quality ingredients is great, it's just as great to be able to enter a store and know what's good or not from your own knowledge.

So what qualifies you to write these reviews and give food grades? I'm not a vet. However, I have done extensive research into these ingredients and foods, and have done all I can to ensure that the information I'm presenting here is accurate. The problem sometimes with vets is that they are paid by food companies to recommend their food. This isn't true of ALL vets, just some. Also, the information on the internet is scattered around and sometimes tough to find, so this page exists to be straight-forward and easy to read.

Is there anything I can do to help?? YES! As I've said before, I will not put ads on this site to make money, but because of that I also can't really afford to buy ads for this site either. So, it really only goes as far as people make it go. If you find it helpful, please consider either Emailing it to people you know could benefit from it, or perhaps posting it somewhere else on the internet (like a message board, homepage, etc.). It's really the only way to keep it going, aside from search engines.

The hosting fees aren't the cheapest either...and while people have told me I should put ads on here, I don't do it because I know they may support products I don't support (which defeats the purpose). So, another idea is to just allow people to donate to the upkeep of the site if they'd like. Totally optional obviously, and only there for those that want to. So the button to do so is below.
